For over ten years, I’ve been obsessed with one question: how do I actually stay on top of my money without drowning in spreadsheets or juggling ten different apps?

I started in the simplest way possible — Excel sheets. Then I tried every tool I could find: Mint, YNAB, Quicken. Each had something useful, but none gave me the full picture. Eventually I stitched together my own system with Google Sheets + Power BI, building dashboards, rules, and reconciliations. It worked… but it was clunky, manual, and always missing something.

At the same time, my own life was changing. I moved from a traditional 9‑5 job into remote freelancing, and eventually into building apps. That shift made my financial needs even more complex:
